Klobuchar tours flood damage in Biwabik, Cook
Sen. Amy Klobuchar joined with local officials in Biwabik and Cook Wednesday afternoon to view flood damage and receive an update on the recovery efforts. Those assembled in Biwabik also discussed work to repair a section of the Mesabi Trail damaged by floodwaters that left a 20 foot deep ravine exposing natural gas lines and sewer pipes. In Cook, she said it was devastating to see the flood damage to so many businesses including Montana Cafe and the movie theater as well as the library in the heart of Cook. “The standing water downtown was so high it reached the nose of the moose in this picture. We must help this community rebuild.’’

Fatal 4th of July accident claims the life of a 27-year-old
Thursday, a 27-year-old Red Wing man was killed in a tree climbing accident in Fleming Township, Aitkin County. The man has been identified as Henry M. Cannon. He was celebrating the 4th of July with several friends and was climbing a large white pine tree in a yard on the shores of Gun Lake. An estimated 2” diameter branch that he was climbing broke, and he fell approximately twenty-five feet to the ground.
Sterling Dance Presents Begin Again: 30th Anniversary Dance Concert
Dancers collectively let out a sigh when the weather held Saturday, June 29th and Sunday, June 30th for Sterling’s outdoor dance concert at the Two Harbors Bandshell. Featuring a variety of dance styles, including tap, ballet, jazz, and contemporary, as well as choreography by various artists, the concerts were a fun sampling of what Sterling dancers have learned in the past year.

DULUTH, Minn.– Folks paddled on down for this Boundary Waters fundraiser Friday Afternoon. There was a good turnout for the 2nd annual Paddlin’ For The Boundary Waters fundraiser in Duluth. Bent Paddle Brewing welcomed local food vendors, and businesses. During the party, Dave Simonett’s band ‘Dead Man Winter’ put on a concert for guests. There was also a chance to win prizes connected to the boundary waters, and even a Sanborn canoe. The fundraiser supported the Sportsmen for the Boundary Waters.
