Danville Team Ready for Historic First Flag Football Game
DANVILLE — Girls’ flag football player Kali Bacys knows a lot of eyes will be on the Danville High team tonight at its historic inaugural game against Peoria Richwoods. Friends, family and other supporters also will be taking in all the renovations to the school’s Ned Whitesell Field, including the new turf, seating and the massive Watchfire Signs video scoreboard.
Illinois State Horseshoe Tournament Kicks Off in Danville
The Danville Horseshoe Club is set to host the 2024 Illinois State Horseshoe Tournament at Douglas Park this weekend. Kicking off Friday at 6 p.m. with doubles events, the tournament will feature singles competitions starting Saturday at 8 a.m. A total of 101 pitchers will compete across 15 classes, including defending champions in various categories. Admission is free for spectators, and concessions will be available courtside.
Open Season: Area prep football teams set to hit the turf tonight
St. Joseph - Coy Taylor returns to the gridiron tonight for the Spartans. During his junior year, Taylor hauled in 95 passes for 1342 receiving yards and averaged 122 yards per game. Senior Logan Mills delivered a hat trick on Tuesday (Aug. 27) as the St. Joseph-Ogden soccer team shut out visiting Argenta-Oreana, 9-0. Mills also had an assist. Zach Harper netted two goals and Nico Harris totaled two assists. Both Quinn Stahl and Yadi Acosta finished with one goal and one assist.
