Lawmakers say two recently passed bills save motorists time, enhance convenience
(The Center Square) – The Illinois legislature voted to provide motorists an option at the DMV of a four-year or eight-year driver’s license. They also approved the option of having a digital driver's license. State Sen. Andrew Chesney, R-Freeport, who supported Senate Bill 275, said the eight-year license is double the cost, but the time savings and convenience will be attractive to many motorists. Similarly, Chesney called House Bill 4592 a "good bill" in a news release. ...

A new cannabis dispensary named The Dispensary Champaign is now open in Champaign. After a soft launch two weeks prior, Champaign’s newest dispensary hosted a grand opening party last Friday with vendors and the Maize food truck. This is The Dispensary’s third location and Champaign-Urbana’s fifth cannabis dispensary. The Dispensary Champaign joins C-U’s cannabis crew of Cloud9, nuEra Champaign, nuEra Urbana, and Sunnyside.
Common Ground’s next cooking class is Greek with Chef Alisa DeMarco
After June wrapped up with Moroccan, Common Ground has their next virtual cooking class coming up on Saturday, July 27th with Greek cuisine. Chef Alisa DeMarco will be leading the course, which takes place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., which will cook a dinner menu using “peak summer ingredients sourced from local farms”.

Tornado Warnings Around the Tri-Counties Illinois
A Radar indicated tornado warning has been issued for parts of Rock Island, Mercer, Whiteside and Henry Counties. The warning is currently from the Quad Cities to Atkinson but the warning is expected to extend southeast. VERY strong winds have been confirmed with these storms. Funnel clouds have been spotted but any possible spin-up may be rain-wrapped. Stay alert and keep a device with you to stay up-to-date with warnings. In sad restaurant news, A Taste of Both Worlds, the Filipino-Cambodian restaurant inside Broadway Food Hall, is closed permanently. A Taste of Both Worlds opened at the beginning of 2021 as Champaign-Urbana’s only Filipino and Cambodian eatery. The Urbana food hall vendor served awesome banh mi, delicious sisig, tasty turon, whole tilapia, and boodle fights (a communal meal with food spread across a table) in addition to offering excellent Restaurant Week specials like this num pang burger, crispy fried chicken, and buko pandan.
