An intoxicated Ottumwa man allegedly drove while revoked. 37-year-old Wansa Walter was charged with drunk drive revocation and OWI – 3rd or subsequent offense. On July 19 at 11:44 p.m, court records say Walter was driving a vehicle on South Sheridan Avenue. Officers observed Walter to have watery blood shot eyes, an odor of alcohol, and unsteady balance. Officers say Walter admitted that he was previously drinking an alcoholic beverage.
Couple Arrested After Staying in Motel Without Paying
A couple was arrested after staying in a motel without paying, according to the Ottumwa Police Department. 30-year-old Mercedes Reisch of Eldon (Left) was charged with 3rd degree theft – 2 prior convictions – property not exceeding $750, possession of controlled substance – methamphetamine – 1st offense, and burglary – 3rd degree – non vehicle.

The Washington Chamber of Commerce has welcomed three new members. Northside Diner, East Washington Auto Wash, and Walmart. Northside Diner is only open for lunch, but they are soon opening for dinner too: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday:10:30 am-3:00 pm. They are closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. East Washington Auto Wash is open 24 hours, 7 days a week, and Walmart has all of your household or outdoor items and groceries. Mid-Prairie’s Stafford Named All-State
Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys track and field star Jayden Stafford wrapped up a sensational spring on the oval, and recently received recognition from the Iowa Association of Track Coaches for his work this year. Stafford, who just completed his junior season for the Golden Hawks, was a four time All-State Selection by the IATC. He received the award in the wheelchair 100, 200, 400 and 800m events, with times of 18.46 seconds, 32.42 seconds, 1:02.90 and 2:14.15 respectively. Stafford was the state champion in all four events this spring and won the Drake Relays title in the 400m.

(Atlantic) Thousands of bicycle enthusiasts hailing from coast to coast and abroad are traveling across Iowa for RAGBRAI 2024. The trip started in Glenwood on Sunday, spent Sunday night in Red Oak, and headed out on Monday morning through Elliott, Griswold, and Lewis for an overnight stay in Atlantic. Police identify suspect in weekend standoff incident
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Cedar Rapids Police have identified the man charged in relation to a standoff incident that occurred Saturday evening. Police say officers had attempted to make a traffic stop around 6:12 pm, when the driver refused to stop and instead eluded officials, driving in excess of 100 mph in a 30 mph zone. The suspect eventually ran into a home on Rogers Rd NW and barricaded himself inside. The standoff ended at approximately 10:05 pm.
