Family Dollar store on Minnesota to close
Family Dollar is closing the South Minnesota Avenue store that it opened five years ago. The closing appears to be part of changes parent company Dollar Tree Inc. announced in March to improve its profitability. The company said it would close 600 Family Dollar stores by early August and an additional 370 Family Dollar and 30 Dollar Tree stores in the next several years as those leases expired.
Governors Begin Season Hosting Watertown
The Pierre Governor volleyball team begins the new season hosting the Watertown Arrows tonight to start a busy week at home, hosting three matches. The Governors are coming off a season in which they nearly made the state tournament, coming up just short in the SoDak 16. Now, the Governors will have a new coach at the helm as Carrie Wheelhouse takes over and will be looking for the first win tonight out of the gates against a state tournament team from last year in the Arrows. The Arrows finished in fifth place at the state tournament with a 27-7 record. The Arrows graduated seven seniors as they will have some new faces and roles to fill in to start the year. It could be a feeling out process for both teams in the opening set as the Govs will look for the jump start at home. Pierre will also host Rapid City Stevens and Central on Friday and Saturday at home with a busy week opening the year.
