MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) – A fire Monday evening in the Town Square Parking Garage damaged six cars and prompted evacuation after a car caught fire on the fifth level.

Fire officials said the fire was accidental and no one was injured. They said a single car caught fire, spreading flames to five other cars.

David Carry, who is employed nearby, said his car was in the parking garage at the time of the fire.

“One of the pedestrians was like, ‘Yeah, there’s a car on fire in the garage on the fifth floor,'” Carry said. “I was like, ‘On the fifth or the sixth?’ because I usually park in here. So, everything is running through my mind; I’m like, ‘Hopefully, it’s not my car.'”

Carry, whose car wasn’t damaged, said he sympathizes with those dealing with the aftermath.

“Things happen,” Carry said. “If you try to live off of worry, you’re going to worry yourself to death. You just try to roll with the punches and hope for the best at the end of the day.”

Fire officials estimate the damage to be around $80,000.
