Police identify man hit, killed by SUV while crossing street in Silver Spring

SILVER SPRING, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Police in Montgomery County have released the name of a man who was hit and killed by an SUV while crossing the street in Silver Spring on Saturday.

Police identified the man as 30-year-old Aman Abraham Gebreyesus, of Silver Spring.

According to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), just before 9 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of University Boulevard East and Langley Drive for a crash involving a pedestrian.

There, officers found Gebreyesus, who was hit, dead.

During the investigation, officers learned that Gebreyesus was attempting to cross University Boulevard East when a 2020 Grand Jeep Cherokee struck him.

Police said the driver of the Jeep stayed at the scene.

The crash is under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash should call 240-773-6620.
