DC area sees storms before return to extreme heat this week
The D.C. area experienced scattered showers and a return to heat Monday after a week of cool breezes and sunshine. A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for the area of Annapolis, Maryland, until 5:45 p.m. The passing storm brought the potential for 60 mph wind gusts that put trees and large branches at risk of falling.
National Cyber Director visits Madison College
Earlier this month, Madison College hosted a group of visiting officials from Washington D.C. National Cyber Director Harry Coker Jr. and Domestic Policy Advisor Neera Tanden arrived at Madison College’s Truax Campus. During their visit, they toured the college’s cybersecurity and IT classrooms before engaging in a listening session with students and alumni from these programs.

Title: ‘Welcome To Your New Home’: New Students Become Hoyas for the First Time
On a sunny morning in August, 1,600 new students processed onto Copley Lawn, just as generations of Hoyas had before them. It was the first time the classmates gathered together as the Class of 2028. And it was the first official start of their academic journeys at Georgetown. As students slipped on black gowns, signifying this start, families, friends, alumni, faculty and staff cheered and clapped, phones bobbing above the crowds to capture their new beginning.

We live on the 700 block of Harvard St NW. Tues, Aug 13th was the last time house hold trash was picked up along the entire block. We spoke with our neighbors on the 700 block of Hobart Pl NW and they have also missed 3 pickups. DPW is not responding to tickets or issuing any word as to what is going on.

Suspect Arrested in Northwest D.C. Following Early Morning Business Burglary on 14th Street
Early this morning, a business in Northwest Washington was hit by a burglar, but with swift action by local law enforcement, a suspect is now behind bars. The Metropolitan Police Department has reported the arrest of Marquis Hill, 31, of Northwest D.C., following a burglary that occurred in the 2100 block of 14th Street, Northwest. The MPD's official release states that the incident took place at approximately 4:15 a.m.
