Fatal Shooting of Lou Loni Jordan, 23, in Northwest
The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in Northwest. On Friday, August 23, 2024, at approximately 12:17 a.m., officers were in the area of the 700 block of Florida Avenue, Northwest when they heard the sound of gunshots. Once officers arrived on the scene, evidence of a shooting was located but no victim. A short time later, an adult female was located at an area hospital receiving treatment for gunshot wounds. Despite all lifesaving efforts, the woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.

Teenager Charged With Arson in Fire That Displaced 43 People; Relief Fund Set Up For Those Who Wish to Donate
Last weekend a devastating fire destroyed an apartment building in Clarksburg. Seventy-five firefighters responded to the scene and assisted several occupants from the building. The fire left 24 apartments uninhabitable and displaced 43 people. Two residents were treated for minor injuries and three family pets were killed.
