13-year-old California swimmer qualifies for Olympic trials
LOS ANGELES - A California teen continues to make waves after qualifying for the Olympic trials this summer. Swimming prodigy Gabi Brito has already broken records in California. At just 13 years old, she swam the 50-meter freestyle race in 25.42 seconds. Her phenomenal time made her the fastest 13-year-old to swim the event in Southern California, which then earned her a spot in the 2024 Paris Olympic trials.

LCM (50 meters) Aria Grossenbach, 15, dropped 1.09-seconds from seed to win the B-final in a new personal best (55.77). Her entry time was set this March at the Westmont PSS stop and represented her first time sub-57. Now she’s broken another barrier at this meet. Grossenbach was first to the wall in 26.68, and managed to hold on for the win despite a charge from Mackenzie Hodges (55.92). Grossenbach’s time cracks the top-100 in the 15-16 age group, slotting in at 63rd.
