SILVERDALE — A fire destroyed a single-family home on NW Cascade Street in the early hours Tuesday and sent a man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious burns, according to Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue.

CKFR was dispatched to the house just after midnight on Tuesday, where five residents were evacuated from the house and one adult suffered significant burn injuries, CKFR said in a statement.

The man was flown to Harborview Medical Center. A GoFundMe page set up to fundraise for the family who lived in the house said that James Williams was the individual taken to Harborview, and his wife and three sons escaped the home. The page also indicated that the family lost everything in the fire, including two vehicles, and are now staying with family in the area. Around $13,000 was raised on Tuesday to support the family.

In addition, a Central Kitsap firefighter was transported to St. Michal Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, CKFR said.

"At one point, neighbors were evacuated from their homes as a precaution because the fire was so large and there was a risk of extension to their residences," CKFR said in a statement. "Crews have remained on scene throughout the early morning hours to watch for and extinguish hot spots."

Cascade Street is located just off Dickey Road, near Silverdale Elementary and the Central Kitsap School District operations facility.

Crews from Bremerton Fire Department and Navy Region Northwest assisted. The Kitsap County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, according to the statement.
