A male juvenile was undergoing surgery after he was shot in the chest and trachea early Monday in Simi Valley.

Authorities were continuing to search for suspects.

The incident was reported as a confrontation between two groups shortly after 2:20 a.m. at Frontier Park, 2165 Elizondo St., according to Cmdr. Ritchie Lew of the Simi Valley Police Department.

The youth was shot during the confrontation and taken to a local trauma center, Lew said. The minor's age wasn't immediately available.

The victim was in surgery Monday morning. He remained hospitalized Monday evening, authorities said.

Three male juveniles in dark-colored hoodie sweatshirts reportedly fled the park after the shooting.

No arrests had been reported as of Monday evening.
