UPDATE: Three arrested in June 2024 shooting in Thibodaux
Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced three people have been arrested for their roles in a in a June 2024 shooting in Thibodaux. David Bonds, 35, and Ronald Vallejo, 33, both of Thibodaux, were arrested for the attempted murder of Floyd Gage, 45, of Thibodaux who was charged with illegal carrying of a firearm following the incident. Bonds and Gage both suffered injuries in the shooting.

When 2024 South Lafourche High School graduate, Evan Louviere, received the American Legion Medal at the recent commencement, the Louviere family's proud tradition continued. This prestigious award, established by the American Legion in 1921, aims to instill character and perpetuate the ideals of Americanism among youth. It is the highest honor awarded to American youth by the American Legion.

New Iberia aerospace business to add 200 jobs thanks to federal $2M grant
For years aircraft have come from around the country to the Acadiana Regional Airport and into the headquarters of Aviation Exteriors for exterior painting and other details. Recently the company expanded into maintenance and repair. Now the company and its 200 employees hope to double its employee count and physical footprint with 200,000-square-foot maintenance repair and overhaul facility along with other amenities to handle more aircraft.
BCF Awards $358,000 in Grants to 30 Nonprofits
The Bayou Community Foundation (BCF) awarded grants totaling $358,000 to 30 nonprofit organizations yesterday to fill critical needs like hunger, homelessness and mental health care in Lafourche, Terrebonne and Grand Isle. This year’s total is the largest ever awarded by the Foundation in its 12-year history of the Annual Nonprofit Grants Program, and brings BCF’s total investment in critical community programs and hurricane recovery efforts to more than $12 million since 2013. 2024 List of grantees.
