Woman’s body found along Upstate road, investigation underway

GREENWOOD COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A death investigation is underway after a woman’s body was found Wednesday with a gunshot wound alongside a road in Greenwood.

The Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office and The Greenwood County Coroner’s Office responded to Wilson Creek Road shortly after 9 p.m.

Once at the scene, investigators located 38-year-old Kasia Dierra Simmons, of Simpsonville, with at least one gunshot wound.

Deputies learned that Simmons was with an unknown Black man were together before the shooting.

They are interviewing family and friends attempting to identify who Simmons was with.

Anyone with information or who was at Pinehurst Subdivision between 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
