The case against two men charged in the deaths of two Simpsonville women will continue after a judge denied a motion to alter the charges.

Max Gentilin, 25, and Seth Carlson, 33, both of Charleston were charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident causing death after Charleston Police said they hit and killed Lizzy Zito and Arianna Gamber, both 20.

Carlson was also charged with two counts of reckless vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

On Wednesday, Charleston County Judge Richardine Singleton-Brown denied the men’s motions to alter or dismiss the charges.

Both men were released on bond in May. Carlson's bond was $600,000 and Gentilin's was $150,000.

According to CPD, SC Ports Authority surveillance footage showed Zito and Gamber on April 28 being first struck by Carlson’s Chevrolet truck and then hit again by Gentilin’s car 30 minutes later.

Zito was a student at the College of Charleston and Gamber was visiting for the weekend.

Gentilin surrendered to the CPD on May 1 and CPD arrested Carlson on May 6. Carlson's attorney is Duane Rodney Davis of the Charleston County Public Defender's Office. Gentilin is represented by Christopher W. Adams of the Adams and Bischoff Law Firm based in Charleston.
