SIOUX CENTER, Iowa (KCAU) — State and agriculture officials held a recovery center on Tuesday for farmers affected by floods.

The Agriculture Recovery Center event at Dordt University in Sioux Center provided local producers information about resources that can help recovery for things that aren’t covered by FEMA or state aid. The event also helps government officials identify specific needs for individuals and find appropriate resources.

“So if we come across a survivor, a farmer ,a rancher, a producer, a business owner who isn’t able to be serviced by any of the things that we have here today, we’re keeping track of that and we’re kind of feeding that back to our Agricultural Recovery Center task force, which includes the governor’s office staff from the congressional office, and they’re trying to implement programs to make changes,” FEMA program analyst Jessica Pugh said.

The Agriculture Recovery Center is planning on hosting two more events in O’Brien County and Woodbury County.
