SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The flooding in Siouxland has displaced many residents and forced them to find a new home for the time being.

Many of those who are displaced from flooding are trying to figure out what to do now. Some residents have been seeking options such as moving in with family or finding a new home. Real estate agents told KCAU 9 what the housing market is going to look like with more people needing homes.

“We see those people who are kind of uncertain about what the future holds,” Jason Geary with Century 21 Real Estate said. “They’re going to focus primarily on renting. Right now we’re in the early stages. We are starting to get phone calls about renting.”

“In a market that is already short on housing, this is definitely a concern to loose some potential housing,” Aaron Bircher with Re-Max Prime said.

The real estate agents recommend residents whose homes were completely damaged from the flooding to contact an agent. They will help determine if they should sell or rent a new home.
