    ‘United by the Arts’ dance concert to take place in Sioux City

    SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The Flux Dance Company, will be presenting “United by the Arts”, a concert at the Jensen Performing Arts Center on Thursday, July 18.

    The event will be outdoors where the company has created an open-air theater in the area, previously the old Lincoln School playground.

    The concert will be open to the public and is family-oriented. The cocktail hour begins at 5 p.m. and the concert will start at 6 p.m. Refreshments and dinner will also be available throughout the night.

    The concert is produced by Jessica McCully of Flux Dance Company in Sioux City and Tracie Stanfield of New York City. The performance will feature professional dancers from New York
    City, an ensemble from the Sioux City Symphony, and local artists including dancers, Missouri
    River Choral Society, New Stage Players, and Luke Dawson.

    In the days preceding the concert, a performance camp will be held with professional instructors
    from New York City including faculty with Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway. The faculty for the camp includes Derek Mitchell, Mindy Jackson, Allie Kronick, and Tracie
    Stanfield.

    Derek Mitchell was the Original Resident Choreographer for the Tony Award-winning musical
    Hamilton. “He is one of today’s most sought out choreographers and he has choreographed projects utilizing almost every style of dance.”

    Mindy Jackson is the Director of Professional Training Programs and contemporary faculty at STEPS on Broadway. She has been a professional dancer, choreographer, rehearsal director, teacher, and youth mentor for concert dance, theater, enrichment programs, music videos and
    television for over 20 years.

    Allie Kronick is a freelance teaching artist based out of Brooklyn, NY. Allie was a founding faculty member teaching contemporary dance for the Professional Training Program at the Martha Graham School.

    Tracie Stanfield is a producer for the concert and part of the faculty for the preceding camp.
    Stanfield is an award-winning choreographer, educator, and creative consultant from New York
    City. ” Her signature voice as a choreographer has helped create and define the contemporary lyrical movement in concert and commercial dance.”

    The camp is open to all dancers and performers, ages 10 and up, from any studio in the area. Camp attendees will be performing at the culminating concert.

    Registration is now open and interested artists can register at the Flux website .

    Flux is also offering free tuition to any artist affected by the flooding who would like to participate in the dance camp. Those affected can e-mail info@fluxdancecompany.org for
