SIOUX CITY, Iowa ( KCAU ) — Families in Riverside who were affected by flooding may qualify for up to $10,000 through federal, state, and local grants.

According to a release, the City of Sioux City Neighborhood Services Division announced on Monday that a grant program was created to assist residents in the Riverside area.

How to help flooding victims in Siouxland

The program will focus on addressing the following flood-related needs: HVAC, mechanical, water heaters, electrical panels, and radon mitigation. Other items may be approved on a case-by-case basis.

The program is based on income and household size. For households whose sole income is social security benefits that are not taxed, the release states that they would likely qualify.

The Neighborhood Services Division will go door-to-door in Riverside on Tuesday to provide information related to the program. The release specified that the representatives from this organization will be dressed in red or blue City of Sioux City Neighborhood Services Division polo shirts and carry a city employee ID. If no one is home, the information will be hung on the residence’s door handle.
