SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Saturday in the Park has been a staple for Siouxlanders for over 30 years, but the event draws in music lovers from outside Siouxland as well.

“We came up from Illinois. We live in Bloomington-Normal, just south of Chicago. My wife’s from South Dakota and her brother and sister-in-law live up there. So the in-laws want me out of the house occasionally. So we came down from Sioux Falls. It’s our second year,” said attendee Lance Lippert.

“I’ve been coming to the side of the park since the nineties, I would say 94, 95. We’re from Norfolk, Nebraska. Well, that’s about an hour and 15, maybe an hour and a half, depends,” said attendee Tony Alvarado.

“The first show I saw was Santana, Buddy Guy, and Dr. John. So that’s 30-something years ago, and I still vividly remember that particular show,” said Alvarado.

“Earth, Wind and Fire and Warrant Treaty was great so earlier in the day, but yeah we stayed most of it,” said Lippert

“First of all because it’s free, right. That’s that, that’s a big thing, right? It’s free. And then, you know, I love the way everyone finds out and just the community aspect of it all stuff. So and I just, you know, enjoy music,” said Alvarado.

“Earth, Wind and fire and corndogs dogs. No, I just mean people and good music and being outside. Nothing beats live music in open air, so it’s all good,” said Lippert.
