SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — For residents not sure what to do after recent flooding, there was a Flood Relief Resource Fair to connect flood victims with organizations ready to help them.

The fair took place at Riverside Lutheran Church and was hosted by Woodbury County Emergency Management and the City of Sioux City. A few dozen affected residents were able to meet with several organizations, including the American Red Cross and the Siouxland Mental Health Center.

With FEMA’s help, more organizations are able to assist as much as possible for the community.

The FEMA individual declaration is one of the big breakthroughs that we see during a disaster,” Woodbury County Emergency Management director Michael Montino said. “I’m really glad that we get that. So, typically speaking, at the local level we only have so many resources that we can put towards a disaster like this, but having that declaration opens up so many more programs.”

If any residents missed the first day of the fair, it will be held again Thursday, July 11 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the same location.
