Siouxland Humane Society to receive $35,000 from Petco Love

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The Siouxland Humane Society is set to receive a $35,000 grant investment from the national nonprofit Petco Love.

This grant for in support of their lifesaving work for animals in the Siouxland area. Petco Love is a national nonprofit leading change for pets by bringing the community and pet families closer.

Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love, their investment in the Siouxland is part of more than $15M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country. as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized

“Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We launched Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database that uses patented image-recognition technology to simplify the search for lost pets.” Susanne Kogut said.

Since 1889, the Siouxland Humane Society has helped save pets’ lives, and by 2014 with its adoption rate being annually over 90% it became a no-kill shelter.

“This investment from Petco Love means so much to the people, pets, and families in Siouxland. With it, we have been able to provide support for spay/neuter, emergency veterinary needs, pet food bank, and many other services that help keep families together, along with providing care for pets surrendered to the shelter and in our care until we find new loving homes,” said Jerry Dominicak, Executive Director.
