SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – A big double header win for the explorer’s Saturday night gave the X’s their 28th win of the year  and the Explorers’ newest pitcher, Iowa state house representative J.D. Scholten his third win on the mound.

Following a 9-8 win in the first game of the day, Scholten started on the mound for game 2.

Scholten pitched 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Explorers secured the game two win 3-2.

With another win on his record, Scholten says he enjoys any chance to compete on the mound at the age of 44.

“There’s not a better feeling than being on that mound and just competing, and to have success at this level,” said Scholten. “This is a hitter’s league and being able to come back and have three decent starts, I feel like after I was done with baseball the last time I felt that there was always something left.”
