SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU)– As flood cleanup continues, so does the stream of aid being provided to those hardest by the recent record flooding .

That includes Sioux City’s Riverside neighborhood, where the Food Bank of Siouxland made a stop on Tuesday. A pop-up food bank was available at Goldie Park for those impacted by the flooding. Workers say they hoped to supply food items to around 100 people during the distribution between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Everything from roaster chicken and dairy products to snacks and other items were distributed to people. Food bank staffers say the event offers another reminder that Siouxland nonprofit agencies are ready to help when called upon.

“We’re just here to help,” Valerie Peterson with the food bank said. “We want the community to know that when they’re struggling or dealing with hardship that they can lean on the food bank and we’re always here to take at least something off their plate, off their shoulders.”

People were able to drive through the distribution area and continue on with their day without having to spend extra time shopping for daily needs.

The food bank will be in Correctionville and Sioux Center in the near future.
