2 rescued from roof of home during Rebecca Street fire

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — UPDATE: Fire officials told KCAU 9 that 11 people were inside when the fire began.

According to an official with Sioux City Fire Rescue, there were 11 people inside the home when the fire started, two of which had to be rescued from the roof.

When officials arrived at the scene, they said that there were two individuals on the roof of the structure that were able to be rescued successfully. There were no injuries.

The current status of the home is still being investigated, but officials said that there is damage to the second floor and possibly the attic. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

Sioux City fire officials are battling a fire in Sioux City’s west side.

At around 12:35 p.m., officials were called to the 700 block of Rebecca Street to investigate smoke. Approximately 15 minutes later, the call was upgraded to a fire call.

KCAU 9’s reporter at the scene said that you can see remnants of smoke on the windows and one of the windows on the top floor of the home appears to have been broken.
