A 1-year-old boy from Minnesota has died after falling from a third-floor hotel room window in South Dakota, his family said.

Madden Hein succumbed to his injuries in the hospital on Monday, two days after plunging from the Club House Hotel & Suites in Sioux Falls, his parents, Kathryn and Alex Hein, announced Tuesday.

“It is with heavy hearts to say that our sweet baby boy Madden gained his angel wings late on April 15th,” the couple wrote in a Facebook post. “We miss him so much and we are having a hard time processing this all.”

The Heins also revealed that “Madden is going into organ donation. His organs are going to help so many other people. Our little boy is a real-life superhero.”

Police are investigating Madden’s death, but Sioux Falls Police Department spokesman Officer Sam Clemens told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that there is “nothing to lead us to believe it was anything other than a tragic accident.”

On Wednesday, a crowd of some 250 people joined Madden’s parents outside Sanford Children’s Hospital, where the toddler was to undergo organ donation surgery, KELO reported.

Alex Hein, Madden’s dad, is a middle school social studies teacher and a high school basketball coach. Mom Kathryn Hein is a kindergarten teacher and helps coach volleyball.

The couple also have a 3-year-old daughter and are expecting another child in August, the Star Tribune reported.

A GoFundMe campaign for the family has raised more than $69,000 as of Thursday.

why was a window open at a motel room and unless it's suite with more than one room they would of been in the room unless they were showering or using bathroom I'm hoping the window was already open maybe the parents didn't know
