The 43rd annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Dinner will host Canadian actor and producer William Shatner at the Sioux Falls Convention Center on October 30th. One of the largest events in South Dakota, the dinner is also a fundraiser for children’s charities and attracts a sell-out audience of 2,000 guests each year.Besides portraying Capt. James T. Kirk in the “Star Trek” series, 93-year-old Shatner also took on many law enforcement roles and hosted nine seasons of the reality TV series “Rescue 911,” which featured stories of heroic rescues across the United States.

Event co-chair Scott Abdallah said that Shatner “is a big supporter of law enforcement” and was “thrilled to accept” this invite to South Dakota.

The dinner is an opportunity for community leaders to honor South Dakota law enforcement officers as well as raise millions of dollars for national charities. This year’s beneficiaries include Make-A-Wish Foundation, Children’s Miracle Network, South Dakota Special Olympics, LifeScape, Ronald McDonald House, Children’s Home Society, Call to Freedom, Family Visitation Center and Cops & Kids.Seats are very limited.
