MOLINE, IL (KELO) — The Sioux Falls Storm lost to the Quad City Steamwheelers 45-44 in overtime Saturday night.

Quad City started the extra period with the ball, marched down the field and capped the drive off with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Mike Irwin to Jar Harrington. Sioux Falls answered with a 20-yard scoring strike from Jiya Wright to Draysea Hudson. The Storm then elected to go for two and the win, but Wright’s pass attempt fell incomplete.

The Storm held a narrow 18-17 lead at halftime and led by two entering the fourth. After the Steamwheelers took the lead on Irwin a 12-yard touchdown run with 47 seconds left in the fourth, Dean Sarris forced OT with a field goal as time expired.

Sioux Falls outgained Quad City 144-94 on the ground. Wright completed eight of his 19 pass attempts for three TDs and netted 113 yards on the ground. Hudson caught two of the TD passes and tallied 55 yards.

The Storm visit the Iowa Barnstormers next week before returning home for the regular-season finale against the Green Bay Blizzard on July 20.
