SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Sioux Falls Little League team came through the losers bracket last weekend to win this year’s state tournament.

Sioux Falls lost their first game to Canyon Lake 10-9. After that, they’d outscore their opponents 50 to 5 on their way to four wins and claiming the state title. For Sioux Falls, it’s another trip back to the Midwest Regional and an opportunity to potentially reach the Little League World Series. The opportunity to represent the state in the regionals has become more of a standard over the past few years.

“The community has bought into it. We get some good players who want to be a part of this. They come and fight for their spots. There are new kids that don’t know if they’re going to make it, but I think we can all look back when we were 10, 11, 12 year old boys and it was a dream,” Kortan said.

The Midwest Regional begins on August 2nd in Whitestown, Indiana.
