    Taryn Kloth wins Olympic opener in straight sets

    PARIS (KELO) — Sioux Falls native Taryn Kloth and beach volleyball partner Kristen Nuss won their Olympic opener Saturday.

    The American duo defeated Canada’s Heather Bansley and Sophie Bukovec in straight sets (21-17, 21-14).

    Kloth and Nuss scored the first four points of the match en route to the set one victory. In the second set, they trailed 5-4 before scoring seven straight points to jump on top 11-5.

    Kloth registered 10 attack points, and Nuss posted 14 attack points.

    Sioux Falls native ready for the Olympics

    The Sioux Falls native smacked the fastest serve of the match at 67 km/h (41.6 mph).

    Kloth and Nuss are back in action in pool play on Monday.
