Storm Lake Library Will Soon be Closed for Over a Week Due to Lighting Project
The Storm Lake Public Library facility will be closed to public access from Wednesday, July 17th through July 26th to allow for the conversion of the building to LED lighting. The project will provide brighter and more reader-friendly lighting, and will also be more efficient and energy-saving. Library staff will be available during normal hours during the closure period. Patrons may call 732-8026 to request materials for a curbside pickup. Materials can still be returned in the dropoff box. Programs that had been scheduled during the closure period at the library will not be held.

POET-Coon Rapids Awards $4,000 To Local Causes Through Community Impact Grant Program
POET Bioprocessing in Coon Rapids has awarded $4,000 in grants to local organizations and initiatives through its 2024 Community Impact Grant Program. The Adair-Casey-Guthrie Center (AC-GC) Elementary School in Guthrie Center received $2,000 to create a sensory room for students with individualized sensory needs. Stables 4 Jed in Manning, which offers grief counseling through equine therapy, was also awarded $2,000 to help offset costs for its first year of operation. Patrick Lappe, the general manager for POET’s Coon Rapids facility, says, “At POET, we are committed to making a positive impact and leaving a lasting legacy that extends beyond our business. We’re proud to invest in organizations that strive to make our community a better place and are actively shaping a better future for all.” POET invites individuals and organizations to apply for funding through the Community Impact Grant Program.
