GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Due to a scheduling conflict, the Evanescence show originally scheduled for Thursday, September 26th has now been rescheduled. The new date will be Saturday, September 28th. If you are unable to attend the new show, you have 14 days from Monday, July 15th to contact the location where you originally purchased the tickets for a full refund. If you can attend the show on Saturday September 28th, then you do not need to do anything.
Former CMU Pitcher Adam Mrakitsch Signs with Texas Rangers
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Former Central Michigan pitcher Adam Mrakitsch has signed a free agent contract with the Texas Rangers. Mrakitsch, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound left-hander, was not selected during Major League Baseball's annual draft, which concluded on Tuesday. He signed with the Rangers on Wednesday and is set to report soon to the team's training facility in Surprise, Ariz.
Kalamazoo Planned Parenthood workers unionize, first to do so in West Michigan
KALAMAZOO, MI — With a recent vote, Planned Parenthood’s Kalamazoo Health Center has become the first Planned Parenthood site in West Michigan to unionize. The United Food and Commercial Workers Local 951 announced Wednesday, July 17, that Planned Parenthood workers from the Kalamazoo Health Center have voted in favor of UFCW 951 representation.
Cramer Named to Academic All-America Team
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan wrestler Alex Cramer has been named to the Academic All-America At-Large Third Team by the College Sports Communicators. Cramer, a redshirt senior from Grayslake, Ill., is a computer science major with a 3.95 grade point average. He is one of 17 student-athletes named to the third team and one of just 47 named to the first, second or third team. The student-athletes represent eight sports and Cramer is one of six wrestlers so honored.
21 guns found stashed in Southwest Michigan camper, felon arrested
CASS COUNTY, MI -- Police arrested a man after finding him in possession of 21 guns inside a travel trailer in Southwest Michigan, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports. On Monday, July 15, Cass County detectives received information about a known felon in possession of several firearms and possibly selling narcotics.
Restaurant building demolished near Kalamazoo, developer plans new construction
KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI -- A former Long John Silver’s restaurant building has been demolished, leaving only the signage of the iconic fast food eatery standing. QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Long time Quincy Community Schools teacher and basketball coach Scott Rodesiler is leaving the district in order to be closer to members of his family. The Quincy School Board on Monday night formally accepted Rodesiler’s resignation as sixth grade English teacher effective August 9, 2024. He is also giving up his Quincy High School varsity boys basketball coaching position.
