Council agrees: A denser Ashland would make more city more ‘liveable’

In just an hour and half on Monday night, the Ashland City Council strongly affirmed that the city’s future will include major swaths of taller, denser development designed to reduce our dependency on automobiles, adapt to climate change, and provide a greater amount of multi-family and affordable housing, while striving to provide spaces for commercial and small-scale industrial uses.
Two times to shop at the Friends of the North Bend Public Library book sale
The Friends of the North Bend Public Library will hold a book sale in August with two times to shop. Members of the Friends can shop the sale on Friday, August 23 from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM. The book sale will be open to the public on Saturday, August 24 from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM. The sale will include hundreds of gently used hardback and paperback books and DVDs. Friends’ memberships can be purchased at the book sale or in advance at the North Bend Public Library for an annual membership of $15. The Friends of the North Bend Public Library is a group of volunteers that exist to support the needs of the library. Past donations from the Friends have been used to support NBPL Summer Reading Program, Title Wave, the Library building renovation, and to supplement the library’s book and media collection with special purchases for adults, young adults, and children. St. Helens Safeway included on list of stores to be sold, Clatskanie Safeway not included
St. Helens’ Safeway location was included on a list of 579 stores across the nation and 62 across Oregon proposed for sale as part of a planned merger between parent company Albertsons Company and Kroger. Stores would be sold to C&S Wholesale Grocers, LLC, a New Hampshire-based company that operates an extensive grocery supply operation, as well as grocery stores in the Midwest, South, and Northeast.
