Senior Braiden Silgero would lead Yorktown in scoring as he tallied double digits offensively. The point guard contributed a dozen points for the team. Paul Rodriguez made the best of his playing time. He would come in off the bench late in the fourth quarter and have a highlight performance. With a minute and a half remaining in the game he would be put on the free-throw line. Rodriguez would capitalize by going 1 out of 2. Immediately, the rebound would be kicked out to him on the right side of the court, and he would drain the three-pointer. Rodriguez concluded his scoring by making a low post shot on a buzzer beater off of a rebound to end the game. In less than two minutes he was able to accumulate six points. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> The game would conclude in a loss for the Wildcats, 65-43. Ryan Knostman would score the Wildcats first points of the night with a put back, 8-2. He would follow it up with another point when he went 1 out of 2 from the free-throw line, 3-8. After being down by eight, Knostman with the help of Brody Metting, would bring the Wildcats within striking range early in the first period. Metting would score a low basket shot off of a rebound while being fouled in the process, 5-8. The Wildcats would try applying pressure with a full court press, but the Bobcats proved to be a dominant offensive force. The Bobcats would extend their lead until Silgero made a three pointer with seconds remaining in the first period, 25-8. Silgero would score again in the second period as he drove to the basket and made the lay up while being fouled. He would make good on the three-point opportunity as he swished his free throw, 33-11. A steal by Ethan Fitts dished to Dalton Eckhardt was good for two points when Eckhardt did a jump stop and watched his defender fly by allowing him the open shot. With only seconds on the clock in the first half, Eckhardt would drive to the basket for his second points of the night. He would follow it up with a steal as the opposing team tried to inbound the ball. Unfortunately, time would expire before a shot was able to be gotten off. At halftime, the Wildcats trailed, 41-15. <nbtemplate data-id="AdPlaceholder" data-content="JTdCJTdE"></nbtemplate> Metting would open up the second half with a score off of a pick and roll with the assist awarded to Eckhardt. Next, Eckhardt followed with a shot of his own, 43-19. The Wildcats would run an underneath the basket play that allowed Silgero to be wide open off the inbound. He would capitalize and make the shot. Knostman scored off the offense from the post position, 55-23. The Wildcat offense started generating some good looks for the team. Freshman Brayden Knostman would make his first shot of the game. With 2:56 remaining, Metting sunk a side jumper. With 30 seconds left in the third, Sam Forbes went 1 out of 2 from the free throw line and Deagan Mungia rebounded and made the put back, 61-28. Knostman would make a layup in the fourth period and Xavier Naranjo would contribute a free throw. Of course, we also had the Rodriguez offensive contribution that was mentioned above. The Wildcats fell short, 65-43. The Wildcats are 0-4 in district play.
