The man, believed to have been in his 50s, was standing on the corner of Frankford and East Allegheny avenues when he was hit by a Toyota around 7 p.m., city police said. Philadelphia Police are investigating after a 27-year-old man was shot seven times in the chest and killed in Overbrook. It happened near 54th Street and Gainor Road, a block away from the Wynnefield Baptist Church.

Dr. Barbara Friedes, 30, Killed In Philly Crash
Barbara Ann Friedes, 30, was struck from behind by a 2018 Volkswagen on the 1800 block of Spruce Street around 7 p.m., Philadelphia police wrote in a release. The Volkswagen then hit three parked cars before coming to a rest, police continued. Friedes was taken to Jefferson University Hospital and pronounced dead, while the driver of the Volkswagen was taken to the same hospital with minor injuries, officials said.
