Dogwood grant supports Apple Ridge affordable housing development
An affordable housing development on Sugarloaf Road received a major boost with a $1 million grant from Dogwood Health Trust, the Housing Assistance Corp. announced on Friday. “We are grateful for the continued affirmation of our work by these long-standing partners," HAC Executive Director Margaret Lebeck said in a news release. “We are focused on meeting challenges of the current housing landscape through dynamic collaboration, Housing Assistance has been helping people find their way home since 1988, but never has housing been a more critical factor of our local economy.”

Greenville shelter employee stabbed with sword by homeless woman, deputies say
GREENVILLE — Deputies say a homeless woman stabbed a Miracle Hill employee with a sword at one of its emergency shelters as she was being evicted. Michell Silva Perez, 34, refused to leave the shelter on Regency Hill Drive about 11 a.m. July 18, according to a Greenville County Sheriff's Office news release.
