Man accused of running over another man with an ATV
VALLEY HEAD — A Randolph County man was arrested for allegedly running over another man with an ATV. Joseph Lee Shipman, 37, of Valley Head, has been charged with malicious or unlawful assault. He is being held in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $25,000 cash-only bond, set by Randolph County Magistrate Michael Dyer.

BOLAR — The Bath Highland Network Authority’s ongoing broadband efforts were top of mind in the two counties at the group’s July 8 meeting. The Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission received a one-year extension for MGW Communications to finish work paid for by the Virginia Telecommunication Initiative grant. MGW now has until June 1, 2025, to finish the work.

Sheriff releases additional information in fatal accident
HUTTONSVILLE — The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office released more details about a fatal accident involving a pedestrian that occurred early Tuesday morning. According to a statement released on Sheriff Rob Elbon’s Facebook page on Wednesday, the victim in the tragic event has been identified as Debbie Bennett, 41, of Huttonsville. According to the release, Bennett walked into the roadway and was struck by a vehicle.

HUTTONSVILLE – The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office reported a fatal accident involving a pedestrian that occurred early Tuesday morning. At approximately 1:52 p.m., “911 dispatched a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at the Huttonsville Par-Mar,” an RCSP press release states. “Deputy Davis and I, Deputy Pingley, responded to this location. The accident was fatal for the pedestrian.”
