Sioux Falls Woman Charged In Capitol Riot
(Washington, D.C.) — A Sioux Falls businesswoman is accused of taking part in the January 6th Capitol riot in 2021. Amy Willis faces four federal charges, including entering a restricted building without lawful authority. The investigation began with a tip to the FBI just two days after the riot. Someone in South Dakota claimed that they overheard Willis bragging about being inside the U.S. Capitol building. Investigators interviewed Willis about a year later, but she wasn’t arrested until last week and appeared in federal court Thursday in Sioux Falls.

Block party coming to BARC
Windom’s Business, Arts and Recreation Center will have its BARC Community Block Party on Monday, July 29 in downtown Windom. Missing Man With Dementia Found Near Ocheyedan
Ocheyedan, Iowa — An elderly man with dementia who was reported missing Thursday from Jackson County, Minnesota has been found safe in northwest Iowa. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says the man, Ordell Skogen from Jackson, was reported missing on Thursday afternoon. They say he left his home in a red 2016 Toyota Rav 4 in an unknown direction of travel. According to law enforcement, the vehicle did not have a service such as OnStar, and he didn’t have a cell phone. They say Skogen has no sense of direction.
Meet Sound of the ‘Stone
Pipestone’s new community band, Sound of the ‘Stone, will perform Monday, July 22 at 6 p.m. as part of Meinders Community Library’s Summer Music Series. The band was founded by Reggie Gorter, Carter Vogel and Michelle Powers earlier this year. It has 15 members ranging in age from teens to 70s. They come from Pipestone, Woodstock, Edgerton, Flandreau and Sioux Falls and play saxophone, clarinet, trombone, trumpet, tuba, bass guitar, drums, piano and more. The founders said they could still use horn, baritone saxophone, trombone, trumpet and guitar players. The founders said the band plays big band music such as Duke Ellington and Glenn Miller.
Lakefield Woman Injured in a One Vehicle Crash
Windom, IA (KICD) — A Lakefield, Minnesota woman sustained life-threatening injuries in a one vehicle crash near Windom Thursday. The State Patrol says 69-year-old Jean Sabatka was Northbound on highway 86 when she lost control, entered the ditch, and rolled. The accident occurred shortly after noon.

Looking at the new child passenger safety laws
Beginning August 1st, Minnesota caregivers will see a shift in child passenger safety laws. Children must remain in a rear-facing passenger seat until at least two years of age, remain in a forward facing-facing internal harness seat until at least four years of age, and remain in a booster seat until the age of nine. Once a child reaches nine years old, they must pass the five-step-test before graduating out of the booster seat.
