Cops: Man illegally recorded babysitter, others in bathrooms at his home and condo

Police on the Northshore have arrested a man who was allegedly recording video of people in the bathroom at his house.

"A Slidell man has been charged with eleven (11) counts of Video Voyeurism for placing a hidden camera inside of a guest bathroom at his home," Slidell Police Chief Administrative Officer Daniel Seuzeneau posted. "A babysitter located a hidden camera (disguised in a smoke detector) inside of a bathroom."

He says it was in the home of 31-year-old Jonathan Bethancourt.

"The victim took possession of the hidden camera and brought it to the Slidell Police Department. Investigators executed a search warrant at Bethancourt’s home and located an additional hidden camera, as well as other incriminating evidence."

Seuzeneau says the investigation is on-going and additional charges are likely.

"Investigators are still combing through substantial amounts of video evidence and have identified additional victims. At this point in the investigation, the evidence indicates that Bethancourt had cameras located at his home in Slidell, and at a condominium in Orange Beach, Alabama."

Slidell cops are working with authorities in Alabama.
