Wichita-area woman dies following crash in Cowley County
ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (KAKE) - A 23-year-old suburban Wichita woman has died following a crash in Cowley County this week, the local sheriff says. The accident happened at around 10 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of U.S. 77 and 242nd Road, which is north of Arkansas City. Sheriff David Falletti said Reyna Batrez was driving on 242nd Road and failed to stop at the stop sign at the highway.

Rodeo fan; Abilene man is long-time rodeo volunteer
For the past four decades, Sid Hammond has been a committee member with the Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo in Abilene. It was in 1985 that he began his affiliation with the rodeo. The rodeo had been produced by the fair board, but it was failing.
