SMITHFIELD — The Johnston County Heritage Center’s research center at 241 E. Market St. will be closed Monday through Friday, July 8-12, while staff members conduct inventory and reorganize the collections.

The center moved its reading room from the third to the ground floor in the summer of 2022 to allow more room for collections storage. Historical exhibits and artifacts formerly kept in storage or displayed on the first floor were moved to the Johnston County Museum, which opened in December 2022 in the former Rose’s Department Store at 329 E. Market St.

The museum will remain open during the week the center is closed.
