The Public Library of Johnston County and Smithfield has been forced to close its book pickup and drop-off in Flowers Plantation.

CLAYTON — The closing of Digital Doc in Flowers Plantation has had a ripple effect on book lovers.

The closure has forced the Public Library of Johnston County and Smithfield to shutter its book pickup and drop-off service, which had operated from inside the store.

On its website, the library said Digital Doc, which offered mobile phone and computer repair, closed abruptly. “We apologize for the sudden change and short notice,” the library said, “but this closure has just been brought to our attention.”

The library welcomed Clayton-area patrons to use the library in Smithfield. “Thank you for your understanding and continued support of our library services,” the library said in a social media post. “We look forward to serving you at our Smithfield location.”

“We apologize for any inconvenience this sudden change may cause,” the library added. “We assure you that our team is working diligently to ensure a smooth transition.”
