Smithfield woman, 25, on bicycle killed in tractor-trailer hit-and-run

SMITHFIELD − A Smithfield woman was killed Monday night after she fell off a bicycle and was hit by a tractor-trailer that left the scene, according to the Smithfield police.

The woman was identified as Aliana Ciacciarelli, 25 years old, the police said in a press release.

She was hit near 140 Pleasant View Avenue by a tractor-trailer that was traveling south, the police said. It happened around 9:30 p.m.

As of Tuesday morning, the truck and its driver have not been identified. The police say they are looking for a light-colored, day cab/tractor-trailer combination that was seen in the area.
