Smithville police investigating after body found in wooded area

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Smithville Police Department is investigating after a body was located in a wooded area over the weekend.

Police said officers responded on Sunday to a report of a body in a wooded area near 194th Terrace. When officers arrived, they discovered the body of a deceased man in a densely vegetated area.

Police said during the initial investigation, a search warrant was obtained and executed for a nearby residence

The Medial Examiner’s Office is working to identify the body at this time.

The Smithville Police Department is asking anyone with information related to the incident to call (816) 858-3521, (816) 532-0500 or the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-8477.
