    Experience the Civil War firsthand at Civil War History Day in Smithville

    The Smithville Community Historical Society and the Wayne County Civil War Round Table will present Civil War History Day 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at the society grounds, 381 Main St., Smithville.

    Civil War presenters will include soldiers from both North and South, playing of taps, a three-gun volley salute and the reading of the Gettysburg Address.

    There will be Civil War-era re-enactors, exhibits and special programs for children in the Heritage Center Schoolhouse at the historical society campus.

    There will be food and live music, and all buildings in the Pioneer Village and the Mishler Weaving Mill will be open to tour.

    The event is free.
