Lawrence Public Library to celebrate 10 years of ‘new’ building at summer reading Last Bash
The Lawrence Public Library will celebrate 10 years in its renovated building as part of its annual summer reading Last Bash on Friday. The party will start at 5 p.m. Friday, July 26 in the library lobby and auditorium with music from No Bow Tie and Chris Luxem & Nathan Dixey, followed by a dance performance by Dance Hues Studio and an aerial arts show by The Last Carnival, according to the library’s event page.
SW Bricktown Fiesta date set
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The date has been set for the fourth annual SW Bricktown Fiesta, Presented by Midwest Superstore and IdeaTek, celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. There will be a free street dance with live music from Grupo Differencia and the Josué Estrada Band, DJing from 620 in the Mix, and folk dancing by Ballet Folklorico Mexico En El Corazon.

Shockers Set for Thanksgiving Hoops at Disney
WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State men’s basketball will spend Thanksgiving participating in the 2024 ESPN Events Invitational at the Walt Disney World Resort, Nov. 28-29. The four-team field features Florida (SEC), Minnesota (Big Ten) and Wake Forest (ACC) and the Shockers out of the American Athletic Conference. The Shockers are making their third appearance in the ESPN Events Invitational and first since 2015.

City of Salina declares abandoned hotel a dangerous structure
SALINA, Kan. (KAKE) - The Salina City Commission has declared an abandoned hotel as a 'dangerous structure.'. Nate King with Salina Post reports that the Commission voted 4-0 to designate the former 192-room hotel at 1616 West Crawford as a dangerous structure, forcing property owner Joshua Joseph of Andrea Investments, LLC to either repair or demolish the property within a certain timeframe.
