The Smyrna Arts Council and the City of Smyrna announced Explore: A Special Exhibit of Wanderlust will be on display through September.

The exhibit takes viewers on a visual vacation featuring art from two local artists who contributed themed collections.

In the Smyrna Community Center are pieces by abstract painter Leigh Pursley from her adventure-inspired collection “Lean Into the Magic.” The works incorporate her love of hiking and the outdoors, and how a connection with nature aids in managing her fibromyalgia.

In Smyrna City Hall are two travel-themed collections from photographer Becca McCoy. In the utilities hallway hangs “Extraordinary Lives | Sites | Times,” canvas panels of photography from a year of world travel. In the court waiting room hangs “Urban Intersections,” photography exploring outside influences on cities. The works explore similarities within differences from locations McCoy visited during a time of personal growth.

Curated by Smyrna Arts Council Vice President Leah Barnes, the Community Art Exhibit in partnership with the City of Smyrna provides an opportunity for local artists to display their work and for residents to gain exposure to Art being created within the community.

The exhibit is open for viewing anytime the facilities are open.
