Troy Rookie All-Stars compete in World Series
Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... The Troy All-Stars represented Alabama at the Dixie Ozone Rookies (11U) World Series in Mississippi this past weekend. Troy went 2-2 at the World Series. They opened up the World Series with a 8-5 win over Livingston on July 18. Cole Cleveland led Troy at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, while Elliot Cochran went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Barrett Powell and Cochran pitched two innings each. Cochran struck out two and gave up two hits and two earned runs, while Powell struck out three and gave up no hits or earned runs.
One Dead Following Accident on Saturday Morning
Alabama State Troopers say that a 20 year old woman – was sitting in the roadway on I-65 – when she was struck and killed by an SUV on Saturday morning. That incident occurred at around 2:30am near Highway 69 and the Good Hope community. Alabama Troopers identified the woman as Madelyn Guerra of Adelphia, Maryland. A second woman, a 19 year old from Anniston was also struck while walking in the roadway and she was then rushed to UAB Hospital – where her condition remains unknown.

Woman charged after high-speed police chase ends in Rainbow City
GADSDEN, Ala. (WBRC) - A woman has been arrested after a high-speed vehicle chase, initiated by the Gadsden Police Department, ended in Rainbow City Sunday morning. The Gadsden Police Department says in the early morning hours on Sunday, July 21, officers were called to the Clubview area in response to reports of a suspicious vehicle. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver, identified by police as Stephanie O’Bryant, fled the scene. O’Bryant led officers on a high-speed chase that reached speeds in excess of 100 mph.

PICKENS COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) - A west Alabama mom wants some answers. She hasn’t seen her oldest child in three years after he left his home in Reform on foot. Paige Fields does not have proof, but she believes her son, Preston Peeks died of foul play. He was last seen Feb. 15, 2021.

DECATUR, Ala. — Mayor Tab Bowling last month demoted Decatur Fire & Rescue Lt. Kevin Jackson, a 20-year firefighter and vocal supporter of a man killed by Decatur police, for allegedly making a distasteful comment in front of civilians during an emergency; however, the civilians at the scene say they didn’t hear or see anything inappropriate.
