Suspected drownings reported in Lake Washington, Eagle Falls during heat wave
SEATTLE — Authorities have responded to several drownings across western Washington as record-breaking heat hits the region. A heat wave began last week with temperatures in the 90s for three straight days across the Puget Sound area. Cooling is expected to begin Wednesday, but temperatures will remain in the 80s for much of the region through the weekend.

Teen suspect in deadly WA mall shooting charged with murder
LYNNWOOD, Wash. - The teenager suspected of a deadly shooting at Alderwood Mall on July 3 now faces murder and firearms charges. Snohomish County Prosecutors have charged 16-year-old Samuel Gizaw as an adult with first-degree murder with a firearm, second-degree murder with a firearm, first-degree assault with a firearm and juvenile in possession of a firearm.
Marysville hires new city administrator
MARYSVILLE — Snohomish County’s second-largest city has a new city administrator. Jennifer Pearson Stapleton has been picked by Marysville’s City Council to lead the city’s administrative branch. Stapleton follows Gloria Hirashima, who spent the last 14 years in the position. Hirashima recently retired after spending 35 years with the city.
