How WDFW Pinched A Suspected Crab Pot Thief
No doubt the tide collects its share of crab pots deployed in Puget Sound, but a Lynnwood man is suspected of actively swiping them from sport and tribal crabbers last year. Game wardens recovered pots, buoys and lines from at least four different fishermen as well as the decoy setups they used to crack the case while serving a search warrant at the 40-year-old’s home in late February, according to court documents.
Will Supreme Court ruling on homelessness have ripple effect in Everett?
EVERETT — A U.S. Supreme Court ruling Friday will allow cities to ban homeless people from sleeping in public places, a decision that could have implications in Snohomish County. As officials across the county grapple with how to shelter more than 1,000 homeless people, cities like Everett have already...
Laid-off Herald staff served readers well; rehire them
Everett Herald reporters deserve better. Snohomish County deserves better. Washington deserves better. I’m saying this as someone who was born and raised in Snohomish County. I went to Northshore School District. Do Publisher Rudi Alcott and Carpenter Media even know that Northshore is one of the school districts there? Can you name a single fact about Everett and the surrounding areas other than “it’s in Washington?” Why would you think readers won’t notice if you laid off more than half of the newsroom? What kind of businesspeople think it’s a good idea to lay off some of the hardest working reporters on this side of the country? Readers will notice. Readers will unsubscribe. It will be your fault.

EVERETT, WA - In the past week, the Everett Fire Department has responded to two separate incidents involving young children falling from third-story windows in their homes. Unfortunately, both children sustained significant injuries and required transport to Harborview Hospital for medical care. Since the beginning of this year, Snohomish County fire agencies have responded to six known incidents where children have fallen from windows, three of which occurred in the city of Everett. These incidents highlight the critical importance of ensuring window safety for toddlers in residential settings.
